If the average American driver wasted 38 hours sitting in traffic last year, we can only imagine how much time traffic congestion impacted our transportation and trucking factoring clients! USA Today recently published an article citing an INRIX study that ranked the top 10 cities with the worst traffic overall this way.
Top 10 Worst Traffic Cities in America (U.S.) 10. Boston
9. Washington D.C.
8. Seattle
7. San Jose
6. Bridgeport
5. New York

Transportation, logistics and truckers may not have the ability to by-pass those cities, but they should certainly consider timing their arrival at off-peak hours or checking current conditions on traffic apps to see whether it would be worthwhile to take an alternate route (assuming one is available). What is interesting to find out is that of the list above, only Austin and Los Angeles also makes the list of top 10 congestion chokepoints for truckers in the most recent edition of Inbound Logistics, in the TRENDS section.
The Inbound Logistics© article titled, “Texas: Truck Congestion’s Biggest Loser” cites data from ATRI’s Congestion Impact Analysis of Freight-Significant Highway Locations. Their list of the top ten congestion checkpoints for truckers puts the spotlight on the ten worst traffic spots for freight haulers, rated out of 250 locations nationwide. Here’s how the list shook out.
