With the worst of the pandemic seemingly behind us, 2022 is the start of the next new normal. Faced with a hybrid workforce and a job seekers market, here are sixteen recruitment marketing ideas to help you find and place top talent in your business or that of your clients.
1. Give top candidates a range of choices
It’s never been more difficult to attract and keep talented employees. Set your recruitment marketing strategy apart by giving candidates with highly-sought-after skills the ability to choose from various employers or employment scenarios.
2. Publish corporate profiles of top client employers
In a job seekers market, organizational culture and fit is a top consideration for candidates. Convince them to apply or make the switch by publishing corporate profiles about your recruiting clients. Showcase the workplace, benefits, and culture to better appeal to potential job applicants.
3. Hold live or virtual meet and greets
A formal interview may not be the best way to introduce candidates to a business. They’re high pressure situations and often a make-or-break moment for both employer and job applicant. Set up virtual or in-person meet and greets for candidates to meet prospective employers in a low-stress setting, such as at a local restaurant or community venue over cocktail hour.
4. Get reviews
Every business can benefit from publishing reviews, including recruitment agencies, staffing and temp employment companies, and even human resource departments. Think of placed candidates as your customers and let them explain how awesome it is to work with you and how happy they are in their new gig.
5. Did we mention getting reviews?
Likewise, employers who are happy with the recruitment services you offer should be tapped for reviews. Send a post-transaction survey and identify those most satisfied with your recruiting services. Send an email asking for a review and make it easy by sending a link to your Google Business Profile, Trust Pilot or other site where you want favorable remarks and ratings.
6. Build your online authority
Having a website and posting job openings puts your recruitment business or staffing agency on the map, but it doesn’t put you on top. Leverage your website as a resource to build your online authority through thought leadership with blog posts, case studies, and so on.
Invest in local (or national) advertising to ensure your website lands atop search results. With kids back out on the fields, don’t shy away from opportunities to get your name out there with local sponsorships in the community. Showcase these efforts on your website as well to create connections and give like-minded employers more reasons to do business with you.
7. Boost recruitment marketing efforts with a mobile app
You can have all the great info in the world on your website, but without an app, candidates aren’t likely to be watching for opportunities proactively. With a mobile app for candidates and prospects, you can publish alerts in real time to generate instant interest in a potential opening or fill a last minute temp job (such as might be needed for a teacher staffing company, industrial or warehouse sub, or medical nurse staffing business) right away.
8. Incentivize last-minute placements and other stuff
When candidates do step up for a quick placement or last-minute temp job, reward them. Create incentives for your top candidates and those that go the extra mile to make your recruiting services look good. Referrals are also a top option for incentives. One person referring a top candidate to your recruitment business can mean thousands in finders fees or revenues for placing temp workers or temp-to-hire individuals.
9. Create an online resource for candidates
You probably practice interviews with candidates regularly, so have you ever thought about videoing one of those sessions? Instead of delivering the same five tips to job applicants over and over, you can add an interview prep tip video to a library of online resources for candidates. Other resources to include are things like resume writing tips, links to resume writing services (e.g., Fiverr resume writers), best practices such as what to wear to an interview, resume and cover letter templates, and more.
10. Build a resume generator
Hiring a Fiverr app developer is another affordable option for building a mobile app for candidates or building tools they can use, such as a resume generator. This is another excellent resource to add to your online library of resources and makes your website the go-to for job applicants who need a little help getting their experience documented in a way that appeals to potential employers.
When you do, make registration part of the process. A resume generator is an invaluable tool for job seekers–and asking for contact information for email marketing is a small price to pay. When they do, start a drip campaign showcasing open job opportunities and current recruitment priorities.
11. Offer interview simulations and practice sessions
When an otherwise great candidate blows the interview, it’s money out of your pocket. In addition to the candidate resources noted above, you can offer free or premium interview simulations and practice sessions. As part of this, include a resume review and free or paid resume writing services.
12. Get back into the live networking scene in your area
Chances are that recruitment marketing in-person is back in play where you are – but are you? Make sure you’re attending local Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, BNI, and other networking events. Showcase all the value you’ve added for employers and recruiters by beefing up your website, adding resources, publishing an app, and providing ancillary services like interview prep and resume writing.
13. Hold a local job fair (or at least attend them)
It might be a job seekers market, but that doesn’t mean high school and college soon-to-be graduates aren’t nervous about how to find and land a good job. Lead the way in your community by hosting a local business job fair and get involved with your local high schools and colleges. Most of them have panels you can serve on throughout the year and host job fairs.
And if you’re near a military base, chances are there are job fairs to sponsor and job boards where you can promote openings. In addition to people retiring from the military looking for work, there are also military kids and spouses who may be looking for work. Military spouses, in particular, may need flexible work situations or work-from-home opportunities, so keep that in mind as well.
14. Become a work-from-home job opening matchmaker
Round up a list of the employers you know of that offer work from home or hybrid work situations. Set up a landing page on your website including a portal where employers can submit openings and another where those wanting a work-from-home situation can submit their credentials, and you can play matchmaker.
15. Host a local conference or workshop
Revitalize the local business community by hosting a conference or workshop. Hotels near you have conference and meeting rooms that have been sitting empty and unused for too long, and most can be rented very affordably. Bring in a guest speaker or provide an expert take on a common business challenge (like recruitment marketing!) in a workshop-style format, or go all-in with sponsored booths, a great keynote presentation, and a variety of breakout sessions.
